Taiwan Bans Government Employees From Using DeepSeek AI | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G

Taiwan has prohibited the use of DeepSeek AI by public sector employees and critical infrastructure facilities, citing national security concerns. The Ministry of Digital Affairs stated that DeepSeek AI is a Chinese product, warning of risks such as cross-border data transmission and information leaks. "DeepSeek AI service is a Chinese product," the ministry noted, urging all government agencies and key infrastructure to avoid it. Earlier this week, DeepSeek triggered a sell-off in tech stocks on Wall Street. Countries including South Korea, Ireland, France, Australia, and Italy have also raised concerns about the company’s data handling practices. Earlier this week, Italy also launched an investigation into the R1 model and blocked it from processing Italian users’ data.
